How to pronounce my name
I go by "Raf", with the "a" pronounced like "aha!", as in Aha! I finally know how to pronounce "Raf"! (IPA: ɹɑf.)
Phonetic spelling of my full name:
- Rafael: RAH-fah-ehl
- Frongillo: fron-JILL-oh
My last name is not of Spanish origin as it might appear (especially next to my first name), but Italian, so the "correct" pronunciation would actually be fron-JEE-loh. Some of my relatives have the spelling Froncillo (fron-CHEE-loh); the two spellings likely arose due to transcription errors both in Italy and when immigrating to the US.
